Models pack for mani and beetle admin mods

I finally made a models pack for mani and beetle admin mod's, there will be more to come, people are hanging out for bender. This pack has Korin, Jeanette, Alyx, Homer and Mr Burns. You can also change the vmts in the materials folders from nice to plain, this is just incase you want the materials to pass consistency on a standard server, they are set to nice by default accept homer and Mr. Burns are just plain but you can change that to glossy if you like. A stand alone Mr. Burns will be out soon.

A little update I updated the file yesterday to fix Jeanette's pants, and also Evil Homers skin was too big (5 meg uncompressed) so I changed that too.

Good News

Some dude named Steve emailed me and gave me the heads up on how to get the old custom css models going. Basically you get the old models/player/ak_anims_t.mdl and ak_anims_ct.mdl and cs_player_shared.mdl and put em in yer css and old weapons models as well. I made up a pack of those files for you to download if you don't have them. Follow the links to my HL2 - Models section of this site. Thanks Steve, man I'm stoked now, I can finish off my good vs evil homer model pack woohoo. To install just extract it to your counter-strike source folder.

Bad News

Valves latest update Wed Jul 06, 2005 changed the player animations in css, so all my models wont work. Well I can understand that and I would be happy to recompile my old models with the new animations but they have done something crafty (in my opinion) and have made it impossible to make a player model that will pass server consistency. If I'm wrong I will cop it on the chin but if I am right its not very nice. Especially when you consider that they provided tools and example model and files for making a urban player model, why do that if you don't want custom player models? I might have to make my own mod or move to a different platform so my partly done projects can see the light of day.

So in short, all the models below this line wont work since Wed Jul 06, 2005 update.

HL2 characters for CSS the Male Rebels

This is a continuation of my work converting HL2 models to CSS. This pack has the male rebels in it. Here is a  new pack of models with a built in easy to use system so you can choose from 18 models which two models you want as your terror and urban models for CSS. Many thanks to cannon Fodder Digital Utopia and Omega for tools and help. This project started out with myself trying to make a model of Gabe Newell. Before I could even get going I needed to learn how to model and once I started importing models from HL2 into CSS I realized people will want these, so here I am making them available. The way I set it up , I make the model and set the textures to its own folder and then I make a new fodler in the player directory where the urban and terror model files are and I copy them into it. So all one has to do is open the folder named "Alyx" for example and copy either the terror files or the urban files depending on what team they want her on and then paste them in the player folder overwriting the files there. And even if the guy gets sick of custom models all he has to do is remove the terror or urban files and css will run standard models from the cfg files.

Gordon Player Model for CSS

I reworked Cannonfoders Gordon player model for HL2 and put him in css. I changed the body just a little bit and I made my own Gordon head, I liked the one Cannonfodder did but I just wanted to have a crack at doing my own version. I set it up the same as the HL2 skins in CSS naturally. Many thanks to Cannon Fodder Digital Utopia and Omega for tools and help. I also included in the zip the original player models, some people miss the original player models so I added them to the Gordon zip file, I recompiled them so they don't overwrite any original steam files.

Model fixes

Recent news.

Yes that's right I had the v weapons in the pack and there was no need, so now guys who want to use my player models but want to keep they're custom v  models can now do that. Also its now much smaller weighing in under 1 meg. :)

Since mid July valve did some updates that made the above download not work.

Download the fix here here If you already have the fix you need to go to cstrike/models/weapons folder and deleat w_c4 , w_c4_planted and w_defuser models, you can get rid of w_eq models too, that's frag, smoke and flash, the grenades seam to do funny flipping around when dropped so its visually nicer for you to get rid of them. Alternatively just dl the fix again and start new.

Since then there has been an update from steam that wont allow material vmt's to have any other lines in them other than base and bump, If you want to fix the vmt's yourself just delete any line accept the { } parts and the first line, vmt's can be opened in notepad. An example might look like this before

"VertexLitGeneric"
{
// Original shader: VertexLitMaskedEnvMappedTexture
"$basetexture" "models/Alyx/alyx_faceandhair"
"$bumpmap" "models/alyx/alyx_head_normal"
"$halflambert" 1
"$envmapmask" "models/Alyx/alyx_faceandhair_m"
"$nodecal" "1"
}

and after

"VertexLitGeneric"
{
"$basetexture" "models/Alyx/alyx_faceandhair"
"$bumpmap" "models/alyx/alyx_head_normal"
}

See how I deleted the unnecessary lines, this will get your model to pass consistency but it wont look as good as it did. I also made a dl for you that has this done to all the vmt's of all the models I have done or converted, I put the fixed vmt's in each folder and I added a folder called plain and copied them into there as well incase you want to go back to the older set, you can download it  here
